Web App Design
I was the design lead for Shifted, an MVP web app allowing hospitality workers to connect with managers looking to fill shifts. It is currently in beta with more growth on the horizon.
My focus was to create a great user experience leaning on our in house app framework, Tenon, in order to get the app to market quickly and validate it, with the knowledge that we would be able to customize the design and build out new features in future phases. I worked closely with the development lead in sprints, using sketches to establish user flow and functionality, key mockups and component-based style guides to inform our efforts.
While I led the design efforts for the marketing site, the branding was done by an external company.
Managers needed to be able to quickly set up jobs on the fly, usually when they are not in front of a computer, when a full time employee can't make it. We ensured the mobile experience could accomplish this just as well as the desktop experience.
Workers can apply for shifts using their Shifted profiles and be notified via email or SMS when they've been selected and accept within a 10 minute window. They can track their upcoming shifts and rate completed shifts from their dashboard.
An email receipt is sent immediately after a shift is completed to both parties. Stripe removes the funds from the managers' credit card on file and deposits the money into the workers' bank account.
